A British record label influenced by US house. It was established by Simon Dunmore (previously the manager of the old AM:PM label) and Janet Bell in 1999.
Having released records from the likes of Ministers De-La Funk, Hatiras, Martin Solveig, Junior Jack, Shakedown, Mood 2 Swing, Dubtribe Sound System and Bob Sinclar, Defected has gained recognition the world over for its dedication to the house and garage music industry.

Erick "Reel 2 Real" Morillo founded Subliminal Records in 1997. Before the label's launch, Erick and his crew spent "eighteen month's getting everything right". Developing a top selling label doesn't happen overnight, and so the group spent those eighteen months "Getting the logo right; getting the design just so. We didn't want to look like any other US label."
Morillo continues: "This wasn't going to be just another label. I want the label to be known for quality music, so when you go into the store and buy a Subliminal record, know you've got a quality record." Ultimately, the label is committed to the vision of releasing the best house music in the world. Several years, three new sub-labels and over 100 releases later, Morillo and his crew consistently deliver the goods.
